Remember when I said I was camping? That was 2 weeks ago, right? (I forget)
Well no matter.

I had a dream when I was camping. In the dream, I saw Crona in this winged form giving the monologue above. He also had a living shadow next to him that grew from the bottoms of his robe and I took it as the shadow being an extension of him.
Looking at him like that and referring to the Madness of Fear made me realize… I had dreamt of Kishin Crona (how my subconscious made him out to be as a Kishin)

So I decided to draw him…
So I guess it’s time for a little explanation on the theory/idea.

This is my idea that Crona will look like as a Kishin, thanks to my dream.
He has two forms: His ‘angel’ form and his ‘shadow’ form. They are two separate entities but are the SAME Kishin as they share the same mind: Crona’s mind. But they are not the same Crona as his mind was split up upon becoming a Kishin.

The angel form has one half of Crona’s original mind: The Madness, the bloodlust, and the need to try to find a way to help him deal with things. But since these are the only aspects he has, the angel form is deadly and has the mindset that a Kishin WOULD have.

The shadow form, on the other hand, has the other half of Crona’s original mind: The memories of Maka and Shibusen, the shy personality, and the reason. He detests being a Kishin now and feels guilt for having left Maka. The thing he wants the most is to be defeated and yet it’s impossible for him to effect the actions of his other side. Shadows are 2D after all. What’s more, being only a shadow- he can’t talk nor show any facial expressions to explain himself. He is ONLY an outline of the old Crona after all.

Now as a Kishin, the correct name for him would be Zushakon, based off of the Great Old One by Henry Kuttner. Henry Kuttner was one of the authors in the Lovecraftian Circle, a group of authors created by HP Lovecraft. Lovecraft is mentioned MANY times as shout outs in Soul Eater. So the idea of naming Crona’s Kishin form after one of the Great Old Ones is not unusual.
What’s more, when I looked up the Great Old Ones, I found that Zushakon sounded a LOT like my dream.

Zushakon (In Lovecraft’s Mythos) is supposed to be a Great Old One of shadows with an intense hatred of light. His arrival is heralded by the rapid darkening and chilling of the surrounding environment and the sound of flapping, as if produced by very large wings, steadily increasing in volume. Upon his arrival, the surrounding shadows darken, thicken, swirl, and finally clot into his dreadful shape.
It is said that wherever Zushakon will show up, the area becomes unnaturally dark.
And it’s also rumored that his actual form is of a winged humanoid.

So based on this, I HAD to call Kishin Crona: Zushakon.
